New Trunk Show: Trendsetter Yarns, featuring “Phoenix”, “Incanto”, and “Orchidea” yarns. All three of these are cotton blends. We have 21 items from Trendsetter in this trunk show.

At 10:30 this morning, a line of eager knitters crowded the front door of Fashion Knit, fighting to be the first to get inside. An employee (me) poked her head outside and said sheepishly, “It’s going to be about fifteen more minutes everyone.”
“FIFTEEN MINUTES!” ”Come on!” ”Really??”
Had they known the wonders we were preparing for them out the back door, they would gladly have waited fifty. We piled the items — labeled and in plastic bags — on tables and in bins outside as fast as we could. Finally, it was as good as it was going to get, and we unlocked the door. A reverential silence fell as our guests entered single-file and made a beeline for the back door, almost as if it were Christmas morning and they couldn’t wait to see what Santa had brought.
In all seriousness, it’s pretty cool seeing how happy folks are finding a yarn they’ve had their eye on for a while, or rediscovering a discontinued classic. There are books, yarn winders, bags, even a knitting machine out there, waiting for a new home. For those of you who need to find a present for a non-knitter fast, some of our older sample garments and accessories are now on sale. The yarn garage will continue until Monday, but don’t wait too long!
Important note:
- We accept cash or check only. If you try paying with a credit card, there’s not much we can do for you. However, there are a few gas stations nearby that will give you change, so you don’t have to give up your magical day!
For those of you who have never participated in our Yarn Garage Sale, if you could walk into the store right now, you’d be amazed and excited. Here’s what’s going on:
This is all the yarn you all have brought in so far. And there’s two days left! Some of the yarns you are casting out of your stash are gorgeous! We just know someone is going to fall in love with what you’ve brought and make something fantastic out of it!
Meanwhile, we’re getting all our sale yarn ready to go, too:
This isn’t even all the greens! If you’ve looked through our sale bins before, you’d know these aren’t just your ordinary castaways. Well-respected brand names and high quality fibers abound; for the Yarn Garage, we’ve separated the yarns, put them in their own bags, and marked them with outrageously low prices!
Our next step is moving all these lovelies into the empty storefront two doors down, where you’ll have plenty of room to browse and brainstorm all the fantastic projects you have in mind. This is going to be so much fun!
What are your plans for Mother’s Day? Are you going to knit her a sparkly sequined shawlette out of Lucatape in her favorite color? Crochet her a bouquet of flowers? Maybe sign up for one of our classes: learn how to make a beautiful dress with Joan McGowan-Michael or a knit a fantastic cardigan with the designer herself, Sandi Rosner! Or maybe your mother is the knitter — in which case, buy her enough yarn to make a cozy swirl coat! (If you’re lucky, she’ll make one for you!)
We LOVE Sandra McIver’s Swirl Coats. Beautifully constructed and universally flattering (see her site if you don’t believe us), these garments look good in whatever yarn you want to use. (One of the coats we have in the store even uses the ever- The two coats we currently have in the store demonstrate this well: one of them uses ruffle yarn and sequins!)
Because we want you to fall in love with these coats as much as we have, we’re hosting a Swirl Coat Trunk Show from May 10th to May 30th! Come by Fashion Knit during that time, try on different styles of coats, and get inspired! We have plenty of copies of “Knit, Swirl!” — the gorgeously photographed book with thorough instructions and tutorials — and if you can’t wait to get started, we have kits of yarn ready for you to take home!
(Did we mention, the Trunk Show is happening during the Yarn Garage Sale? Maybe someone will be selling the perfect yarn for your coat!)
